Geographycaly speaking Slovenia it’s in part an Alpine country and as it is gifted with mountain chain which spreads truoght several slovenian regions on wich has developed and still is developing the winter tourism, especially skiing. The most significant mountain chains are those of the Alps, the Julian Alps with the predominant mount of Triglav (2864m highness) in the north-west of Slovenia and the Kaninsko-Savinian Alps with mount Grintovec (2558m highness) on the north. There are the also well known mountain massifs of Karavanke on the north and Pohorje on the north-east part near Maribor.
An avarage highness of the slovenian ski paths is between 1000-1900 m, and an avarage length of those paths is 20km.
Slovenia has about fifteen famous ski resorts divided among its northen regions: the north part of Primorska and Notranjska Kraska, Gorenjska, the north part of the surroundings of Ljubljana and the Stajerska region.
Primorskia and Notranjska Kraska has their ski resort Kanin-Bovec on the extreme north, and this is the only ski resort in Slovenia that has its ski paths above 2000m higness and Cerkno-a little bit on the south-east from Kanin.
As a region Gorenjska has a plenty of ski resorts wich the most significant are those in Kranjska Gora, and Kobla and Vogel.
The near region of Lubiana and its surroundings has Krvavec, which is near Pohorje the largest slovenian ski resort and it is situated on the slopes of the Kaminsko-Savinian Alps. Here is also the Big Mountain, maybe a little less known as a ski resort but definitively the most appropiate ski resort for familiy with kids.
Stajerska as a region has several mountain chains ,which determined the devfeloping of numerous ski resorts on that area, as Pohorje-near Maribor, the east part of the Karavnke and Kaminsko-Savinian Alps. The most known ski resorts are Mariborsko Pohorje, Rogla, Kope and Crna e Ravna na Korosken.

All the slovenian ski resorts are equipped with modern wiryes of different capacity and they are very well managed. Many of them have an illumination for the unique experience of the night skiing.
Beside skiing ,as the main activity, ski resorts offer the possibility to practice many other sports such as snowboarding, nordic skiing, sledging, climbing on the frozen cliffs an so on.
Beside the high quality of the offer for winter sport practicing, the significant one is the one of accomodation in hotels, appartaments, private inns and houses, so even the most demanding guests can find something for themselves. Numerous restaurants, tavrens and snack bars offer as well as the tipical national meals also the international meals which will not leave you indifferent.
