Novalja

 

In a delicate bay on the north west coast of the island of Pag is situated Novalja, the most known tourist city on the island.

Numerous ruins of the antique buildings testify of a rich history from which the most known is the antique aqueduct carved in a live stone, and which dates from the I. century. Except the aqueduct here are also 3 catholic basilica from the IV. century, and many objects and parts of sacral buildings that are kept in the archaeological anthology of Stomorica beside the main church.

The day of the city is celebrating the 13 June when the summer cultural and entertainment events begin.

As a leading tourist city on the island, Novalja can be proud with many gravel and sandy beaches of which the most popular are Zrce, Caska, Strasko, Babe, Trincel, Branicevica and Vrtic. Zrce is surely the most known and because of its 24 hours party it has received the name of the Croatian Ibiza. Beside Zrce You can search for fun in numerous bars, disco and night clubs.

Like the rich night-life offer, in Novalja You can find a variety of active holiday offer, many sports content, organized trips to the near islands (Rab, Losinj, Silba and Olib) and a visit to the National Parks (Kornati, Krka, Plitvice lakes and north Velebit) so you can get to know the wide area of the island.

The gastronomic offer of the island of Pag, of which the most known are the sheep cheese and the lamb meat, will leave you delighted. In the numerous restaurants, tavern and cellars are offered menu's on fish or meat basis.
