Description
Hotel Osejava**** stands at the foot of the majestic Biokovo mountain where the stones of Makarska touch the blueness of the sea. The name of the hotel suggests both the pleasure of shade (osoja) and the beautiful pine forest which surrounds the hotel.
The Hotel Osejava is a hotel of tradition and memories, being built on the same foundation as its predecessor with the same name. In 1929, the first Hotel Osejava was opened and was known for years as the most eminent hotel in Makarska. Famous persons who were regular guests at the Hotel include the poet Tin Ujevic, Nobel Prize winner Alberto Moravia, the Czech statesman Jan Masaryk and many others. The newly built Hotel Osejava follows in that same glorious tradition.
The Makarska Riviera, with its widely known beautiful beaches and crystal clear sea water, has always been a jewel of Middle Dalmatia. Makarska is about 60 km south of Split and only 20 km from the Split airport. If you travel by car, you can leave your car within the safety of our parking lot or in the garage while you enjoy your visit in the area.
The town and the sea, the colors and the scents of the Mediterranean do not end once you enter the hotel. The four star hotel has 45 rooms and 5 apartments. The narrow stone-paved streets of Makarska and the scenes and details of Dalmatia have been discreetly incorporated into the architecture and design. You can see the texture of the stone wall, the patina of the old doors and the tavern inside. Brilliant bougainvillea flowers, clothes drying on the line and the interior of the hotel become small urban vignettes of Dalmatian architecture. Photographic murals make the interior poetic. The borderline between reality and the fantasy of the Mediterranean we know from the films and books is indistinct. The comfortable rooms are modern and equipped with AC; SATTV; PAY TV; Internet, telephone, mini bar, security safe and hair dryer.
Once you leave the comfort of your room you can treat your senses at the coffee bar Kantun, or at the rustic restaurant Parangal or the modern Zalo restaurant. Menus offer high quality Dalmatian and Mediterranean meals. High quality wines are available to satisfy the most delicate of palettes.
The quietness of the small salon Libar, with 30 seats, or the larger congress hall Zalo which seats 100, will meet the needs of your spirit, complete your knowledge and widen your horizons at an interesting seminar or meeting.
There is a saying: In a healthy body, there is healthy mind. You can look after your body in the Beauty Center with bath treatments, saunas, manicures, pedicures and cosmetic treatments. The outdoor swimming pool provides an additional source for your pleasure. Nearby there is a sports centre with soccer and basketball fields, athletic fields, tennis courts, bowling courts, sports hall, swimming pools, gym, marital arts hall and a bowling alley.
If you are adventurous and want to wander around or go on excursions, our travel agency offers you many trips to the surrounding area including Split , Dubrovnik, numerous Dalmatian islands, the world wide known shrine of Medjugorje, Mostar to see the Old Bridge built in the 16th century or Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There is also a running track, 3 km long, through the pinewoods, that takes you to the hidden pearl of the Makarska Riviera, the beach Nugal. Or you can enjoy the mountain and pedestrian paths through the nature park Biokovo with unbelievable landscapes and various flora and fauna which change with the altitude (it varies from 0m to 1762m).
If you are not interested in the summer crowds and heat, you can visit us off season. The Hotel is open year round with a large variety of facilities available. Our souvenir shops provide many mementos so that you will not forget the enjoyable moments spent in our hotel and seaside.
