On the north –west of Slovenia in the Gorenjska region, on the border with Italy and Austria on the slopes of the Julian Alps and Karavanke Alps, in the upper part of the valley of Sava river there is Kranjska Gora, touristic destination of major importance and one of the most known ski resort in Slovenia. From it’s peaks, on bright days You have a wonderful view on the peaks of the near countries and on the sunny days even till the Adriatic sea.
Kranjska Gora is a touristic oriented area, surrounded with woods and meadows and as it a start point for many ski paths situated in the surroundings. The town is situated on 810 m of highness, and the old part of it is surrounded with a new one. In the spirit of the named turistic orientation it has developed the area in which You can find a rich offer of sports in winter season-skiing, climbing over the frozen rocks, ice-sakating on Jasna lake, snowboard and in summer- hiking on marked paths, mountain cycling roads, horse riding, paragliding and a series of organized trips.
Another attraction of Kranjska Gora is surely the thing that is quite near the National Park of Triglav with it’s picturesque landscapes. Exactly here is situated on of the entrances in the National Park.
Concidering the presence of the Julian and Karavanke Alps and their proud standing peaks Kranjska Gora has developed in a most known ski-resort in Slovenia and as it it’s a host of the World ski cup for men in slalom and giant slalom and in ski leaps on Planica. The wiry of Kranjska Gora have the longest history on those in Slovenia and nowdays in Kranjska Gora there are about 20 of them. The length of the ski paths are approximately 30km, and of the paths for Nordic skiing about 40km. Kranjska Gora is one of the ski resorts suitable for beginner skiers as well for professional ones. With a possibility of practicing a lot of winter sports, here are also present ski and snowboarding schools for the little ones and for the beginners of those attractive winter sports.
