Njivice wordt voor het eerst in een leenbrief van de vorst Ivan Frankopan uit 1474 genoemd. Maar archeologische vondsten in dat gebied wijzen erop dat deze nederzetting veel ouder is. Naast de plaats Villa di sasso bianco wordt Njivice ook in 1790 genoemd.
