Kanfanar e' una cittadina ed un comune del territorio dell'Istria centrale. E' composto da 21 vilaggi tra i quai i piu' conosciuti sono: Okreti, Sošići, Marići i Burići. Kanfanar e' diventato l'incrocio principale da quando nel 1999. e' stato costruito l'Istarski ipsilon, mentre prima era un centro ferroviario.

Confina con le seguenti citta': Rovinj (Rovigno), Bale (Valle), Svetivinčenat (Sanvincenti), Žminj (Gimmino) i Tinjan  e attraverso il Limski kanal (Canale di Leme) ha lo sbocco al Mare Adriatico.

Il territorio era abitato gia' nell'antichita'. La citta' piu' conosciuta e' Dvigrad (Duecastelli), oggi una rovina, che e' stata abbandonata per la peste ancora nel 17. secolo.

Tenendo conto delle belezze di questo territorio e' impossibile non soffermarsi ai monumenti sacri come: la chiesa di Sv. Silvestro del 13. secolo, la chiesa di Sv. Agata del 10. secolo, la grotta di Romualdo, e il Canale di Leme, menzionato gia' precedentemente, che e' una riserva naturale.

Kanfanar si trova ad un altitudine di 284 m sopra il livello del mare, che offre aria pulita e una lontananza dai rumori e dallo stress. Il turismo del comune di Kanfanar fa parte del turismo rurale dell'Istria verde.
