Proseguendo da Herceg Novi si arriva al bellissimo golfo delle Bocche di Cattaro (Bokokotorski zaljev) che è il più grande del Mediterraneo. Sempre lungo il golfo verso sud si attraversano piccoli paesi come Risan, il più antico centro abitato nelle Bocche e luogo di soggiorno di Teuta, regina illirica; poi l'antica Perast e infine si arriva a Kotor (Cattaro), città di lunga tradizione marittima e delle celebrazioni dei navigatori, circondata da mura ancora ben conservate. Nel 1979, l'UNESCO ha inserito la regione di Cattaro nel suo Registro del patrimonio culturale e naturale. Alle spalle di Cattaro ci sono soltanto le montagne, tra le quali si vede un castello, che si può raggiungere salendo le vecchie scale di pietra e da lì godere un belvedere sulle Bocche di Cattaro.
Herceg Novi (Castelnuovo) è la città dei carnevali e degli artisti. Una città con mura e torri vecchie di sei secoli. Questa città ha il maggior numero di giornate di sole della costa.
Sul mare ci sono una decina di città, tra le quali Ulcinj che si trova all'estremo sud ed è una delle città più vecchie costruite sulla costa adriatica. Budva è una città antica, chiusa dalle vecchie mura rinascimentali che risalgono al XV secolo (in parte ricostruite a causa di un forte terremoto negli anni '70) e circondata da tante spiaggie sabbiose, o più frequentemente fatte di piccole pietre.
Vicino a Budva è situato Santo Stefano (Sveti Stefan), un piccolo paese costruito su un'isola pietrosa, collegata alla terraferma da una sottile lingua di spiaggia sabbiosa.
