L'isola di Lastovo (Lagosta in italiano) ha una superficie di circa 52 Kmq. Occupata dagli italiani dal 1918 al 1943, diventò come la vicina isola di Vis (Lissa) una importante base militare fortificata. Dal 1976 al 1992 la marina Yugoslava chiuse l'isola per ragioni strategiche. Venne riaperta al turismo alla fine del conflitto Serbo-Croato.
