Barbariga is een kleine plaats omgeven door onaangetaste natuur en talrijke olijfbomen, op 20 km afstand van Pula en Rovinj. In Barbariga bevindt zich een appartementen komplex met talrijke appartementen en kamers. De naam Barbariga stamt oorspronkelijk af van de familie Barbarigo uit Venetië die twee doges, kardinalen en tien provinciale leiders ter beschikking stelde. Vanwege het groot aantal antieke fondsen uit het Romeinse tijdperk staat Barbariga ook bekend als eens rijk archeologisch gebied. Tussen de ruïnes van antieke, nog altijd bestaande huizen werden de overresten gevonden van een grote aandrijving voor het maken van wol en het kleuren van stoffen, de belangrijkste oliefabrieken van Istrië uit de 14e eeuw en twee grote Romeinse rustikale villa's die met prachtige bonte marmeren mozaïeken versierd zijn.

De naam rt Barbariga (kaap van Barbariga) was in de Middeleeuwen bekend als rt Cissana vernoemd naar de legendarische stad Cissa die in de 18e eeuw in de zee verdween.

Op dat gebied bevinden zich ook andere archeologische lokaties zoals de overresten van de prehistorische ruïnes van het kasteel Mandriola en de vroegchristelijke basiliek van de hl. Andrej met mozaïeken, een sarkofaag en beeldbehouwde tegels uit de 17e eeuw.
