Just about 30 km away by road from Split and 2 km away from Trogir is situated the island of Ciovo. Ciovo is connected with the mainland with two bridges. With its position Ciovo closes the Bay of Kastel.

On a surface of 28,8 km² are located several places: Okrug Donji, Okrug Gornji, Arbanija, Slatine, Zedno, Ciovo.

In the XV century, during the Turkish invasion, the population on Ciovo increased significantly because of the refugees that came. From that period dates the church and the Dominican monastery of the Saint Cross. Many other, smaller churches, testify of a high level of spirituality of it's habitants.
