Ловран

Similar to Opatija, Lovran's tourism has developed and grown. Today it is mostly known for being a health and rehabilitation centre. Due to its climate and healing qualities, Lovran's tourism, next to Opatija, is also active during the winter months.
This little Istrian town is characterised by its blue sea and the green slopes of Mt. Ucka. Visitors can enjoy their holiday swimming and sunbathing or mountain climbing and hiking or both.
Lovran is also a historical place. Its old town is surrounded by an old city wall and the remains of an old doorway to the city and the church of St. Jurja. Lovran was created when the roman patrician and statesman Marcus Agripa built his summer residence, Tusculum, on the site of today's Lovran in the first century AD. Agripa had the whole world to choose from, yet he picked Lovran.
Lovran has around ten hotels guests can choose from and for the outdoor types, there are auto camps in nearby Icici and Medveja. Old renovated villas are also great to stay in when on vacation in Lovran.
Visitors can taste fine traditional cuisine in one of Lovran's many restaurants. Lovran's specialty is the chestnut which grows in the wild in Lovrans' natural surroundings and are prepared and served in restaurants.
This town is also very well known for its international regatta which is held in November every year.
Along with its hotels, restaurants and activities, guests get the best of both worlds in Lovran. They get fresh mountain air as well as a taste of the Mediterranean. These qualities will just make you want to come back for more.
