Bale is an ancient peaceful town surrounded by beautiful nature and clear blue sea, 10 km far from Rovinj. Its origin stems from roman times and beyond, for it wasit have been the site of some prehistoric strongholds called Castellieri.
The remains of old houses, bronze coins and other findings prove, with certainty, that Balle – Valle was the a Roman stronghold Castrum Vallis, erected by Caius Pulcrus in order to protect the salt-pan road, leading from Pula to Parenzo, from the frequent attacks of the population from the hinterland.
