Na samoj granici sa Slovenijom, smješten u plodnoj i slikovitoj dolini rijeke Kupe uz njezin gornji tok na obroncima visokih goranskih planina smjestio se Brod na Kupi.

Središtem mjesta dominira dvorac (kaštel) Zrinskih. Trokatna građevina kvadratnog tloctra datira iz 1651.g. a bila je opasana zidinama koje su danas orušene. Pretpostavlja se da je kaštel sagrađen na ostacima prijašnjeg iz 1577.g.

U neposrednoj blizini smještena je župna crkva Sv. Marije Magdalene sagrađena u baroknom stilu 1670g. No prepoznatljivi barokni stil izgubila je tijekom II svj. rata  paljenjem i djelomičnim rušenjem.

U povijesnim zapisima Brod na Kupi se spominje kao ribarski gradić zbog rijeke bogate raznim vrstama slatkovodne ribe. I danas je mjesto poznato kao ribolovno, lovno te općenito turističko odredište.
