Geographycaly speaking Slovenia it’s in part an Alpine country and as it is gifted with mountain chain which spreads truoght several slovenian regions on wich has developed and still is developing the winter tourism, especially skiing. The most significant mountain chains are those of the Alps, the Julian Alps with the predominant mount of Triglav (2864m highness) in the north-west of Slovenia and the Kaninsko-Savinian Alps with mount Grintovec (2558m highness) on the north. There are the also well known mountain massifs of Karavanke on the north and Pohorje on the north-east part near Maribor.

The near region of Lubiana and its surroundings has Krvavec, which is near Pohorje the largest slovenian ski resort and it is situated on the slopes of the Kaminsko-Savinian Alps.
