Bormio è una città situata in provincia di Sondrio, Regione Lombardia nelle Alpi italiane. Attualmente ha una popolazione di 4.200 persone. Oltre ai moderni impianti sciistici, la città è nota per la presenza di centri di benessere termale.

Il villaggio ha ospitato la FIS Mondiali di sci alpino nel 1985 e nel 2005. Ci sono 50 km di piste di sci, la più lunga delle quali ha 6 km, servite da 14 impianti di risalita e scuole di sci diverse.

Bormio ospita regolarmente la Coppa del Mondo di sci. La Pista Stelvio, dal nome del Passo dello Stelvio è uno dei più impegnativi passi di discesa del circuito maschile di Coppa del mondo.

Vi confluiscono quattro valli: la Valdidentro, percorsa dal torrente Viola, la Valfurva, percorsa dal Frodolfo e la Valle del Braulio che la collega al Passo dello Stelvio, e la Valdisotto, nella quale scorre il fiume Adda.
