Lovran (Laurana) si trova sulla Riviera di Abbazia, pur circondata da boschi di quercia e castagni, deve il suo nome ai boschi di alloro che riempiono ogni angolo della città e insieme a palme e siepi fiorite ne caratterizzano la vegetazione.

La chiesa parrocchiale di San Giorgio è costruita in stile gotico nel XIV secolo e il soffito a rete è stato fatto nel 1470.
